At Albushra Islamic School, we are dedicated to fostering an environment that emphasizes both academic excellence and the development of a strong Islamic identity. Our core subjects, which mirror those of local primary schools, are infused with principles and values rooted in Islamic teachings, ensuring that students receive a holistic education that prepares them for both the secular world and their spiritual growth.

Our curriculum includes Islamic Studies, Qur’an, Arabic, French, Mathematics, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Arts, and Health and Physical Education, each taught through the lens of Islamic worldview.

In Mathematics, students not only develop critical problem-solving skills but also explore the historical contributions of Muslim mathematicians, fostering a sense of pride and connection to their heritage. Science lessons emphasize the wonders of Allah’s creation, encouraging students to see the study of the natural world as a form of worship and appreciation for the divine intricacy of life. Examples will be getting students to delve into a deeper exploration from an Islamic lense in all of the sciences.

Language Arts and Social Studies are crafted to help students understand and articulate their faith while engaging with diverse cultures and histories. Through literature, poetry, and storytelling, students learn about key Islamic figures and values, integrating these lessons into their personal narratives. Social Studies classes highlight the rich tapestry of Islamic civilization and its impact on the world, cultivating a well-rounded perspective that celebrates both Islamic and global histories.

Our Islamic Studies program provides students with a deep understanding of their faith, covering topics such as the Five Pillars of Islam, the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the stories of other prophets. Through interactive lessons, discussions, and projects, students develop a strong foundation in Islamic knowledge and values, helping them to internalize their faith and practice it confidently in their daily lives.

In our Quran classes, students learn to read, recite, and memorize the Holy Quran with proper Tajweed (pronunciation rules). Emphasis is placed on understanding the meanings and context of the verses, encouraging students to reflect on the divine guidance in their personal and academic lives. Regular recitation and memorization sessions, combined with experiential activities like Quranic storytelling and competitions, enhance their connection to the sacred text.

Arabic language instruction is an integral part of our curriculum, enabling students to access the Quran and Islamic texts in their original language. Our Arabic program focuses on developing proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension. Through immersive activities, cultural experiences, and practical use of the language, students gain a deeper appreciation for Arabic and its significance in their Islamic identity.

Recognizing the importance of bilingualism in Canada, our French program equips students with essential language skills in French. Interactive and engaging lessons emphasize conversational fluency, reading comprehension, and cultural awareness. By integrating Islamic themes and stories into French instruction, we provide a unique learning experience that respects and reflects the students' identities.

Experiential learning is a cornerstone of our educational approach. We believe that students learn best when they can connect theoretical knowledge to real-world experiences. Field trips to local mosques, Islamic centers, and community service projects allow students to live their faith actively and see its relevance in everyday life. These experiences are designed to strengthen their Islamic identity and instill a lifelong commitment to community engagement and service.
